Great House
Great family vacation getaway!
The process in researching and renting the property was easy and very informative. The home layout, property, privacy, proximity to the beach, and friendly people on the island were the things I was looking for in renting this location and were everything plus for our family with our girls and grandkids. There was plenty of space and locations for everyone. I would highly recommend having the host, Ally, get the groceries to the house vs hauling them yourself on the shuttle/ferry. We decided to do that and was well worth the fee. Highly recommend this house, beach location, and owner/property manager, host, and housekeeping to everyone looking for a relaxing family time together for all ages! Until next time!
Amazing stay!
Fantastic Location, great concierge service included. Starting with prior to the stay until after we left, there was great communication.
Check in was a breeze with the concierge / property managers, and the vacation started basically immediately for us since they took care of our groceries and had golf carts waiting to start exploring. Set up of the house was great for us – we had 2 couples with 5 kids under 7. The private walkway to the beach was such a cool touch – made it feel like paradise. We also loved that the whole house was screened in, including the downstairs by the pool. With the sink, grill, shower boat table and hammocks, we really only stayed inside the house while we were cooking dinner and getting dressed for the evening and sleeping.
Great Stay!
My family just spent 3 weeks at SunDancer-the location couldn’t be much better. It is literally a 30 second walk from house to the beach.
The house was spotless when we arrived, and the wrap around screened porches are wonderful. We spent lots of time on the porch, when we weren’t at the beaches, or touring around on our golf cart.
My husband worked remotely part-time, and the wifi worked well most of the time. Any wifi issues were island issues, not the house.
Whenever we had an issue, Ally Kesler was prompt and helpful to take care of it.
We had 10 people at the house for one of the weeks, so we had to rent another golf cart- thinking a 2nd cart, considering the number of people the house is to manage, would have been nice.
Overall, a great experience.
Friends Vacation
Great place to get away and have a fun time with friends. House was well suited for 4 couples. The pool was great and the beach was just steps away. It was so nice not to have cars on the island and golf carts were fun. We had our groceries delivered and everything we needed at the house. Sean and Ally were very helpful got us every thing we needed. Everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful. We would definitely go back again.
Family Vacation
Sundancer was a perfect place for our family, 7 adults and one toddler. Plenty of space to spread out and enjoy. Ally and Sean responded to every request, almost instantly! The owner even stopped by a couple of times to make sure things were running smoothly. We will most definitely come back! Only advise would be to pack ALOT of food and less clothes! We also put an order in for food and received it all the next day. Stars were amazing along with sunsets and sunrises- all viewed from top deck!
Kitchen was more than adequate especially when it came to the essentials. You basically just need your food and drink!
Large washer and dryer were MVPs!! Wrap around decks were always used- perfect screened in outdoor area on all three levels-we really couldn’t ask for more!
Nice property on first visit to an interesting island
Comfortable stay for our family of 5 including 3 boys (14, 13, 8). Clean and spacious. No major issues during our stay. We took Pine Island taxi from airport, stopped for Publix instacart order, and used Island Girl ferry. All pretty smooth. Traffic was not an issue for us on taxi (about 50 mins) but apparently sometimes heavy through Mattlacha, so plan accordingly.
Property management, Shally’s Seashells, responsive to a couple of our questions – seemed reliable for check in and check out. They even accommodated us to stay late on check out because no renters arriving that day – really helped us relax on our last day with flight leaving late…
Location a 4 because, not a beach front property, but ok with us. Beaches all around, including either end of air strip. Being on north part of island, usually had to travel around air strip to go places but not huge issue on this small island. Would be a long walk to NCIC.
There was 1 available golf cart – it was reliable and fit our family ok, even with some beach gear. We did rent another through NCIC for a couple days. Widow walk top of house nice, but limited view of water. House close to Mainstay which is good place to visit, also where Island Girl ferry docks. Not a bad cart ride to NCIC, about 5-6 mins. Wi-Fi on property worked well. Verizon service (phone and internet) for iPhone 11 spotty on island which was annoying (i.e. tried to look up Over the Waterfront restaurant and fishing charters while sitting at NCIC pool one day, but unable to search and make calls).
Overall would recommend this property. Thank you to owner and Shally’s Seashells!
New property, new everything
First-time visitors to North Captiva Island after two decades visiting a similarly (previously) private North Carolina island. Management company switched to Sean and Ally from the time we booked to the time of our visit. They were on top of everything for us: how the Island Girl Ferry works, how to ensure we were set with groceries shopped for and placed in the house for us ahead of our arrival, how they will pick us up and take us to the house on arrival. They showed us the different island spots to visit our week, took our luggage up into the house, how to work the automated lock and pool. They and the owner were awesome communicators and highly responsive when we had questions during our stay. Our family of six loved all the newness of this new house. Huge island in the kitchen for meal prep and just spreading out food to feed the kids. Filtered water in sink. Big sectional for family tv watching at night. Linked us up with ice delivery lady for extra ice. Coffee pot/k-cup combo machine. Had bikes, kayaks and pool floaties available. Wish list for next visit: Ability to take AC lower than 72 degrees F (and just guidance on how thermostat works) because we like 67 or 68 degrees at all times and bannister/hand rail integrated with steps of pool to make entry/exit a bit more secure for older folks. The owner and property managers are the kind of experience caretakers you want to rely on when you spend this much money and planning time on a family trip.
First Time On the Island
This is a great spot and the house was nice and clean. It was pretty stocked but could have used a few more bowls, and cooking tools but it was fine. We all loved the refrigerator that had a filtered refillable pitcher right in it. That was the best. The house next door has a pool and they had young kids playing in it, so you have to be ready for those sounds. The property managers were very responsive. We had a wonderful trip.
Great Vacation
Lunar Tides is a beautiful house and North Captiva is a relaxing and gorgeous island. The house is clean and comfortable. The house gardens are beautiful. All appliances were up to date. It was so relaxing to enjoy the great weather on the upstairs front deck. The property manager- Sally Seashells offered all the information we needed to make the trip there and back and order placement at Publix super convenient.
We had everything we needed to make for a wonderful week. Thank you!
Special Day & Special Week
We stayed at Sandy Tundra for a week in January with our three children – one teen and two adults – as we were getting married on the beach. The home is lovely, the property managers are sweet and helpful, and the owners are incredibly attentive. Oh, and the island…the island is incredible. I highly recommend the entire experience.
Awesome stay and will be back
Our stay at safety harbor was amazing. Starting with the “boats and fun” boat taxi to the island which was seamless. Shally property management and property owner (mike) were dependable responsive and proactively followed up to make sure are vacation was perfect. The property/location enabled seeing the sunrise every morning from our front porch, close to all restaurants, had all the amenities needed for beach/cooking. We saw turtles, bald eagles, osprey’s and manatees. Loved having the cart which made accessing everything easy . We definitely will be back.
A Great Place to Stay
We had a great time visiting North Captiva and staying at the Sandy Tundra! The property was clean and well stocked. I enjoyed every morning on the screened-in balcony with my coffee. The new washer/dryer was a dream and the towels smelled delightful! My only tip for new visitors is: buy extra groceries! I planned for the amount my family would normally eat and my boys ate so much more! Definitely have the groceries delivered as well. Sean and Ally were super communicative, welcoming and overall amazing property managers! Thanks for a peace of paradise!

I can’t say enough about this property and the property managers and owners. Just a truly awesome experience from the property to the location. We truly had one of the best family vacations we have been on and we have done many. This is for sure one of the top VRBO experiences. Steps away from the beach. Private pool area. Never did I worry about the kids outside or going around the island. So quiet. So relaxing. Some of the best sunrise, sunset, as well as moonrise and moonset experiences on the roof. Great family vacation retreat!
Exceeded our expectations
This is a beautiful, well-cared for property with WONDERFUL sunset views (sunrise too if you climb up to the crows nest). It is so close to the main beach, yet on a quiet street. We were celebrating my father’s 80th birthday with 10 people including 4 teenagers and we could not have picked a more perfect place! We had clear, responsive communication with house manager Ally & Brian who picked us up. There was plenty of room for our families to be together or find our own space – the screened in porch is HUGE. All 4 bedrooms are on the same floor with 3 full baths and a handy 4th bath near the kitchen. The game closet was well-stocked, so was the kitchen with equipment and we enjoyed the margarita machine! The pool was comfortably warm & big enough for adults/teens to lounge around or little ones to play. (Older elementary kids or true swimmers would need to hit the club.) It was handy to have 2 golf carts – but they are rather slow (people passed us ALL the time). The bunk room did get a bit warm/stuffy with 4 teens — if they were comfortable everyone else was cold. We compromised by running AC an hour or two in the evening. It would have been very nice to have a 10am check-out. However, we were able to hang out at the club until we had to be to the dock. Brian made sure our bags were ready for the later ferry. It all went so smoothly!

Spring Break
We had a wonderful time. It was me and my husband, my in- laws, our 2 teenage kids and their girlfriends. The house was great and the location was amazing. My husband and I had the bedroom upstairs. The view was absolutely spectacular!!! Sean and Ally were there to so friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again!! The only thing we would suggest is lights by the pool area so people could play ping pong and swim at night. We checked all the lights but nothing came on. We did not inquire about it. We kept meaning to email and ask, but kept forgetting. It obviously didn’t keep us from having fun!! 😀😀

Perfect Seaclusion spot on this beautiful island!
From the minute we set foot in the house we felt at home!! Our property Managers , Shally’s Seashells, were by far the best !!! They responded immediately every time we contacted them and started our Island vacation off perfectly! Seaclusion Too is a hidden treasure, just perfect for 4 and comfortable inside and out and having it’s on golf.cart is definitely a plus!! Easy walking access to sunrise or sunset beaches on either end of the runway. I explained it to friends as being on the “quiet side” of the island. The front porch was perfect morning and evening relaxing spot especially if you like birds💖 We were sad to have to go, thank you for the opportunity to stay in your beautiful home, it was a picture perfect unique vacation!
Great Getaway!
Charming, eclectic cottage located within walking distance of beautiful beach. Sean, Ally and Brian were most helpful with grocery shopping, fresh fish and even a liquor run. The cottage was well equipped, clean and stocked with plenty of towels, linens, detergents and bathroom supplies. Lots of wildlife to see from the porch, by golf cart or bicycle. Look for the manatees, the beautiful giant pileated woodpeckers in the trees by the front porch, raccoons, and lots of nesting ospreys. And, oh, the beautiful sunrises and sunsets can’t be beat!

My wife and I had a spectacular stay at Seasong. Perfect location and a lovely house. We can’t wait to return to North Captiva. Shally’s Seashells property management were super and easy to work with. Highly recommend.

Clearly the owner and the management company want guests to have a wonderful stay. The house is well stocked with everything we needed. The internet is in and out constantly. That was the only thing that could be improved.

Relaxing Island Experience
Sea La Vie has to be one of the best rental homes on the island —the home is gorgeous and set up perfectly for a family stay; it’s directly on the beach with a gorgeous view from the decks and of sunrise on the beach; golf carts and club access the the pools.
Leslie was SO proactive, communicating thoroughly in advance to help us understand lab our trip and checking in to ensure we had all we needed. She was extremely kind and caring—she genuinely wanted us to have the best experience and did all she could to ensure we did. And the property managers were responsive whoever we needed something.
The island itself is like a large luxury yet casual campground. It was so easy to unplug and just enjoy island life. Our family went shelling on the west beach every morning; enjoyed pool time w the kids and played on our private beach daily. We were blessed with PERFECT weather in the high 70s/low 80s each day. And we took advantage of some really unique experiences like private massages on the balcony overlooking the ocean and a private chef to make a delicious family dinner with fresh locally caught fish.
We highly recommend staying at this home if you are considering Sea La Vie!!!
Ladies getaway
We really enjoyed this property, it was well appointed, room for each of us to have our own bed, plenty of space. The views were spectacular. The beach was one of the best around, very quiet and relaxing. Management and owners were easy to work with.
Family vacation at the beach
Our extended family did a family vacation post holiday in North Captiva (January 3-8). It was a perfect location and home for us to comfortably stay! We loved the quick access to the beach, heated pool, secluded atmosphere, and room for everyone! The staff was quick to respond with any questions or needs we had! We definitely would come back again!!! We didn’t want to come home!
Great family time
Beautiful house on the beach. First time on North Captiva, excellent place for secluded family time and a great beach. Generally quiet location with exception of construction noise from homes nearby. 4 nice bedrooms plus a fifth on ground floor that was musty and not so great. A few details lacking like beach umbrellas all broken, a dirty and old gas grill that got the job done but needs to be replaced. Property managers were very helpful and accessible. Food and drink re-order Service was convenient and generally accurate, and well worth the extra expense. Nice well stocked kitchen area to prepare meals and hang out. Overall we loved our stay and the property was very nice and largely as advertised. New owner so hoping for just a little investment to enhance what is already a lovely vacation house.
Gulf Dreams on the Beach Family Getaway
We had a wonderful vacation at Gulf Dreams on the Beach. We were looking for a home to accommodate our family (8 adults, a 3 year old, and 2-1 year olds). We wanted a private pool and direct access to the beach/ocean. This home ticked all of those boxes. We spent a lot of time in the pool, which provided a lot of shade on hot afternoons. The access to the beach was perfect. We enjoyed playing in the ocean, collecting shells, and playing in the sand. The sunset views from the beach were absolutely stunning. The house was well equipped and Ally (Shally’s Property Management)were very responsive when we had questions or needed restock of a few items (toilet paper, kleenex, dishwasher tabs, laundry detergent, etc.). We had a fantastic time with our family. I would highly recommend this house and North Captiva Island for a family vacation.

Great Vacation House!
Loved this place. Only steps from the beach! Fantastic location. The house is great and has all of the beach chairs, umbrellas, toys, etc. you could ever need. The house itself is great as well. My family loved it. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the property management group. They were extremely responsive and answered all of our questions both promptly and accurately. They solved any issues that came up quickly and responded within 5 minutes every time I texted them. They were on top to pick us up and drop us off and we’re very nice. The island is great as well. We tried all the restaurants and they are great! We liked it so much we are. I are coming back next year!
Great location, smooth experience, laid back atmosphere
Two adults, one kid, and two dogs had a great time @ this rental the week before Christmas. We worked with the property management (Ally & Sean) to pre-order groceries + quick meal, set up stocking service, get fresh seafood delivery, and arrange private chef for a night – all very straightforward. Overall it was a great experience and the kiddo rated it our best vacation so far 🙂
Great stay at a great property
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location was perfect with a view of the harbor. Ally was extremely responsive when any questions or needs arose. Only suggestion would be to consider replacing the golf cart, which was a bit tired.
Wonderful Time!
We loved our stay on North Captiva. It was great having the kayak. Our teens had a blast in the golf cart. We rented a couple bikes and went several times to the nature preserve. Ally and Sean were very helpful. Hope to come back some day.
Perfect Location
Dragonfly Point is a perfect place for us. It had everything we needed and with the tiny issues we had, management was super quick and responsive. It was great to not have to pack very much. The kitchen has all the basics and the home was clean and tidy. Ally and Sean greeted us and were so friendly and helpful – especially with their communication. They shopped for us and got everything we needed before we got to N Cap. They even checked in with us to see if we needed any last minute things My family is looking forward to visiting again soon! .
Greatest location and most wonderful home on North Captiva!
Six adults just returned from a week at Flip Flops and hands down, was the greatest most relaxing trip of all time. We have stayed at many places but Flip Flops is the top of our chart. The location is the best and the house is very well equipped and decorated. All your needs are on the premises. Towels, washer, dryer, dishes, pots, pans, beach chairs, umbrellas, with very comfortable furniture to sit and enjoy the beautiful sunsets. The 3 porches are fully furnished with dining arrangements to eat outdoors and 3 hammocks to relax. Everyone in the party raved about the house! The property is well maintained with no maintenance items of concern. The swing set bar on the beach was a big hit even with other renters on the island. The local property managers (Shallys Seashells) were very accommodating and responsive to every request. An added bonus for sure! If you are looking for a beautiful, clean, well appointed house with great amenities and unobstructed beautiful sunsets out your windows, porches and from your almost private beach, this is your place! Oh, did I tell you we were up against the small grassy airstrip to watch small private aircraft arrive? I can assure you if you stay at Flip Flops, you will have no worries or regrets…what a vacation is for.
Great Beachfront Location!
We had a great time at the flip flop house. Before booking you can ask Jen any questions about the house, check-in process, groceries, etc through vrbo, Jen is very quick to answer all your questions. Once you arrive at the Island, property manager group Shally’s Seashells will help you out through out your stay. They’re extremely prompt with requests for missing items or any questions you might have about the island. Ally took us on a nice tour of the Island, pointing out many of the wonderful landmarks and places to check out.
The house came equipped with essential items, fully stocked kitchen with pots and pans too (which made cooking meals easy) We worked with Ally to place grocery delivery in advance and she ensured everything was all set upon our arrival which was really nice. The location is top notch; we experienced amazing sunrises and sunsets. The house has many seating area’s, we especially loved the swings by the beach. We used the grill nearby which also was equipped with gas and grilling tools. There were plenty of linens available for use along with washer and dryer.
The beach was pretty private and peaceful. We do recommend to bring insect repellant, there were tiny little bugs biting from time to time on the sand. Having the golf cart included in our rental was a huge plus and made getting around the Island a breeze.
Huge thank you to Ally and Team. You made it easy for us to arrive and get our wonderful vacation going! We can’t wait to come back 🙂 Thanks for everything.
Best Vacations in a long time
If you are looking for a beach place to disconnect and relax, this is a perfect spot. An amazing house with the sunset just in front of it. Beach front, sand bar and BBQ, beach shower and most importantly, the property managers and their team, always there to assist you with anything you need. The island is a hidden gem for beach lovers. Super safe for kids. We will definitely try to rent it again.
A little piece of paradise!
One of the easiest rental experiences ever! The property was perfect for our family of 6. The kayak was perfect for the beach, we rented the extra golf cart due to size of our family, which was great for the older teens. The property managers were amazing, easy communication, I could just text a question and they responded. The only regret is I wished I booked it longer! The packet of information covers everything ! Thanks for the memories!
Clean home with a pool!
Check in was easy and the property manager was attentive all week. The home was clean and came with beach towels, chairs, and pool rafts. We requested two pack and plays for our two small children and got them at no extra cost. Brand new too! A golf cart was also included and we enjoyed exploring the island. The local marina, Boats and Fun was a great spot to rent a boat and fishing poles. The owner of the house even checked in with us to ensure that we were enjoying our vacation. Highly recommended! Would love to return!
Our first month long snowbird stay could not have been more perfect. North Captiva is a gem of a tropical oasis. Surrounded by nature at its finest. Beautiful beaches, shells, birds , sunsets , nature trails,and more .
Monique and Ryan provide the icing on the cake. Their cottage is without a doubt a home away from home. The artistic homey touches are too many to list, truly making us feel welcome and at home. They have filled their home with everything you could possibly need to insure your stay is an awesome experience . From adult to child it’s here for you. Just bring your clothes !
Monique is a wonderful person who is always there to help with any problems or issues, ( not that we had any!) But reassuring to know she is there incase , along with her well run management company.

The house was in a great location and the use of the 6-person golf cart was key. The inside of the house was beautiful and spacious. We had a group of 6 girls and we all were very comfortable. Ally is very responsive when contacted. We did have some issues with the AC unit on the one side of the house, and Ally had someone come out to look right away. Overall, we had a great girls trip and look forward to returning back to North Captiva sometime soon!
Beautiful island, great house and location! Shallys Seashells super responsive. Perfect for our family get away with my parents. Boating, beach, pool and the Club access for pickle ball, kayaking and extras was added bonus!
Paradise found! This was a perfect getaway on a private island only accessible by water taxi. The house was immaculate, comfortable, and well stocked. We loved cruising around the island in the house golf cart and spent our days on the beach, gathering shells, enjoying the pool, and spotting dolphins, manatee, and so many exotic birds. Communication with the host and property management was excellent -instantaneous- and they even picked up additional groceries for us when we decided to extend our stay. Truly a dream vacation spot where you have beaches to yourself, and time to just enjoy sunsets.

This is our second trip to Rainbow’s End in North Captiva. The house is clean, well-appointed & comfortable in every way, just steps from the beautiful, peaceful Gulf beach! Management team was friendly, helpful & responsive, making sure we had a great week. Our 11 yo declared it “better than Disney”; you can’t beat that! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home!
Can I move here?
You cannot be any more on the water than at this property. We wanted a legit get away and Rainbow’s End gave us one. House was clean and had all our needs: kitchen tools to cook & eat in, plenty of bath & beach towels, and household needs like soap, detergent, toilet paper, etc. Our view on the screened in porch was our favorite spot to be every night, lit by candlelight because it’s sea turtle season. The downstairs bath house was very convenient after a day at the beach. Recommend using the kitchen stocking option as it saves the hassle of having to transport groceries & wine/ beer yourself via the water taxi, along with your other luggage. Some of us ate at Over the Waterfront- make reservations, it was delicious! Mainstays was good too! I miss driving around on the golf cart all over the island to explore and see the wildlife. At the docks by Mainstays, you will see the manatees every day, throughout the day. Lots of lizards & ospreys too! Shout out to Shally’s Seashells property management group! Ally was great and responded quickly to any of our questions or requests- thank you for bringing us extra candles! My mom appreciated the homeowner bringing us nightlights. Daniel, who helped with our luggage, was great too and we appreciated his help! I truly hope to visit again for another escape.
Private Cozy Beach House
Our recent stay at Rainbows End was wonderful. There is something very special about this little place on the beach. The location is perfect and as other reviews mention you cannot get much closer to the water. There were not a lot of people on the island during our stay so it felt very private and secluded which was perfect for us..
We spent almost all of our time on the beach or the screened patio. If you are looking for a place to unwind and unplug then this is it.
Also, Sean and Ally (Shally’s Seashells) were very helpful and always available for any questions we had during our stay. Take their advice and make a reservation at Over the Waterfront. Anything you order will be divine.

Barefoot Hideaway is a beautiful home. Everything was very clean and decorated very well. The whole home had a very relaxing feel. Sean and Ally (property managers) were very attentive and answered any questions we had quickly. We had no worries the whole time we were there. We will come back.

The house is beautiful. The location on the island is perfect. The amenities were amazing, all the way down to all the necessities for a long day at the beach. The property owner and her property management group were amazing to work with. Genuinely cared and were prompt in responses. When a few issues did pop up, they were all over fixing it. I would go back to Blue Tortuga in a heart beat and hope to again sometime soon. You won’t regret this booking!
